Pre-Press » Stochastic Screening
Nowata Printing offers stochastic screening, where images are printed by dots spread randomly throughout the image area. The dots are not equally spaced or aligned in a row or grid and they vary according to the tonal value to be reproduced. Printing with stochastic screening offers more detail, less ink on the sheet, no moiré pattern, increased tonal values, crisper fine lines and small type, and cleaner reverses. While the number of dots is different, the size is the same and are spaced according to the tone or color desired to be achieved in the image.
Ideal for both black and white and color images, it creates the look of traditional halftone screening but with more detail and substance to the image, which can be printed at a larger size and higher resolution. This process has the ability to output 256 levels of grey and reduce ripping time. This printing service is effective for printing on complex textures such as tweeds and silks. The method effectively creates repeating backgrounds, geometric shapes, and conventional screens and is used in mediums such as telephone directories and fine art reproductions. The versatility of this stochastic screening makes it a popular choice for our printing customers.
